I’ve been using Snapchat for over a decade now. This app was a source of community and connection for me throughout the years; it holds countless memories, milestones, and laughs. All of those could be easily accessed and looked back on through Snapchat memories and flashbacks. Of course like every other company, now they want us to start paying a subscription fee for access to a widely loved and favorite feature for countless other users. It’s a shame, since I and many others have been users for so long, but I truly see no reason to keep Snapchat if they choose to stick with this decision. Since I’m not a child (oops, I meant ‘young adult’), Snapchat is no longer a primary method of communication for me, along with nearly every respectable individual out of the teenage years. Not to mention the ‘discover’ page is mostly slop clearly meant for 13 year olds. Frankly, I don’t understand who they’re trying to get money from with this decision. Is it the teenagers and kids who make up the majority of active users, and who this app is evidently aimed at? Or is it all the 20-something’s that, have likely grown out of many of this app’s features, but who still utilize the memories feature and…actually have their own money? I’m hoping it’s the latter, but I won’t be part of it and neither should anyone reading this. There are tutorials on how to get all of your memories from Snapchat and they’re free. We don’t need more subscriptions.

My snapchat account of 7 years was deleted, i made it December 25th of 2015.. it is February of 2024.. they decided to permanently lock my snapchat acc and delete it. I had NO WAY to contact them as everything in their support team leads to links. I tried to put in under a different topic not relating to my problem as i could not contact them any other way. They did not answer me. I used an old support desk number, nothing. After 2 days of crying because i had pictures of my siblings since birth, memories of people not alive anymore, and had long lost high school friends and that was the only media i had them on.. i decided to make a new snapchat. i had it for 2 days & DID NOTHING WRONG. my first snapchat account of 7 years i got one report warning, then it was locked. My second account i had for 2 days.. no warning or ANYTHING & it was permanently locked out of the blue. i have sent several emails with NO response. I loved snapchat.. but you’re doing too much & have NO COMMUNICATION platform. Not to mention i am device banned.. for no reason. idk if they are targeting me or what😭 ANYWAYS.. i have convinced my friends to move to other apps and they have agreed & now none of us have it. Until snapchat can give me proper communication i am done with this app :)

I use Snapchat on a daily basis and I am pleased with the different filters and fonts that are available. The app runs smoothly and one of my most adored aesthetic features is when the ghost rockets upwards when the screen is refreshed. The only reason I am not giving this application 5 stars is because of the problems I have had when using the AI. The AI has been helpful when it comes to my questions about music theory and my guitar effects pedalboard. I have given the guitar effects that I own in great detail and the AI has made wonderful suggestions on how I can get a better guitar tone with my equipment. The problem is when I ask it about information I have given in the past. This results in me having to repeat the equipment I own again and again. It doesn’t remember what guitar pedals I have nor the guitars in my collection. I have given this information many times but it keeps forgetting. The other problem is when I ask about something historical. I asked if it knew the name of the man in the famous photo that shows himself getting shot in the chest with a cannonball. The AI said that this was not real and was in fact a publicity stunt. I did a quick Google search and found the mans name and that he actually did that activity regularly. The AI got several other questions wrong about this man. This needs to be fixed. Otherwise I enjoy using this application.
