I must say this app does a lot, and what it currently doesn’t do, is actually in the works! I use this app for my business advertising, and I did run into a few snags mostly because i don’t know what I’m doing because there is no tutorial for this app so you’re basically taking shots in the dark at this point. Another thing is this app lacks a search bar which means you have to scroll through hundreds of templates. It’s great to have a lot of options but exhausting and time-consuming when you can’t search for a particular style. I will say the customer service for the app has been most helpful and gracious with helping me with issues. Outside of those recommendations the only other recommendation I would have at this time would be, if the app would only charge the coins if you were happy with the finished result. Otherwise you could easily blow through all of your coins just making changes here and there because the app didn’t get it right the first few times. I do highly recommend this app and I’m excited to see the new changes and developments going forward.

I created various profiles and used an array of photos, and despite all my efforts, every image generated anglicized my features and hair. Not everyone wants to look like a person of European descent. The idea is fun, but the developers really need to focus on ensuring diverse outcomes representative of a global population rather than a propensity to ascribe Caucasian features to everyone. Out of the 180 images I generated with this app, there was only one that was believable, and I used reference photos with my hair straight instead of curly in this instance because any photos with my perfectly healthy curly hair resulted in the app generating hair reminiscent of heat damage from a bad hair relaxer. 100% not the vibe. Still, I had to go into Adobe Photoshop to widen and de-lengthen my face and facial features to produce something that actually and truly looked like me. In addition to that, this app noticeably gave me a lanky, slender body composition entirely unlike my own. I’m 5 feet and of a fit, athletic build. Anyone seeing these images of me with a tall slender supermodel-esque body would burst out in laughter out of the sheer unbelievability. It’s a fun idea, but there’s much work to be done on the developer’s part. What’s possible with this app is impressive and I hope the developers will hear this feedback and make a more viable, inclusive product.

I have enjoyed experimenting with the app. If you can get it to create a reasonable likeness and you’ve paid enough to access the better creations that are blocked off until you pay enough, it’s entertaining. There exists a cultural bias with Black images. The AI struggled to approximate the features of Black images. Instead, it co-opted Asian or White features into the finished product often using “coins” to produce unusable images. Once used, you do not get them back even if the AI failed miserably. It was unable to maintain subject eye color. In addition, it is predisposed to creating images of Black women as obese even if the original profile has no images of obese women. Background creation is unrealistic with minimal image integration. The image is plopped into the background. Other features for content creators may make it worth it. It was glitchy. At times, it just froze necessitating closing the app.
